CIFF’s Programming Team will select the top films from all entries, with the official selections making up the program for a special YYC screening during the 2007 Calgary International Film Festival, September 21-30, 2007. The winner of the YYC competition will be decided by a jury with prizes and awards being given out at the event. Tickets and passes will also be available for directors of the selected films, providing an opportunity to attend a variety of films during the Festival.
Official selections of the YYC competition will also be screened on-line on the CIFF website, www.calgaryfilm.com, throughout the months of September and October. This "web-venue" will showcase young Alberta talent locally and to the world.
The Calgary International Film Festival screens exceptional films from around the world to Calgary students during the Youth Film Series. With the YYC competition, CIFF will be showcasing the best of local youth filmmaking, as well as providing aspiring directors, actors and producers an opportunity to come together and exchange ideas.
YYC film submissions must meet the following regulations:
- Film must be between 30 seconds and 6 minutes
- Open to both short fiction or documentary films
- Films must have been completed after January 2006
- Applicants may submit up to three films
- Submission deadline is August 3, 2007
