Telefilm Canada’s 2005-2006 annual report was a triple-award winner at the 2006 LACP Vision Awards Annual Report Competition, beating out Fortune 1000 and Forbes Global 2000 organizations. The corporate publication placed 36th out of the 2,500 reports submitted from 21 countries in five geographic regions, winning the Platinum Award – Best Overall Annual Report (Government category), the Bronze Award – Best Agency Report, and a Top 100 rank.

Jury comments included: “This year’s annual report for Telefilm Canada proves to be remarkable in light of tremendous competition. […] Overall, we find this work to be superb, earning a total score of 97 out of a maximum 98 points awarded in this competition. […] The work is supported by a robust financials section that we believe is superb.”

“We are very pleased that Telefilm’s 2005-2006 annual report was honoured in the LACP’s competition,” said Wayne Clarkson, the Corporation’s Executive Director. “This important tool reflects our commitment to transparency and accountability.

“By carefully managing the public resources entrusted to us, we provide ongoing added value to the Canadian industry and Canadian taxpayers. In addition, our dedication to being an efficient administrator extends to reducing administration costs, better managing business processes, creating a corporate plan, and developing more extensive and user-friendly information systems such as eTelefilm.

“In fact, in 2006, eTelefilm received a salute from GTEC, a conference for IT professionals, which named the service a finalist in its Distinction Awards competition. Telefilm is the only Canadian cultural agency that provides online services for its clients nationwide.”

The Vision Awards are organized by the League of American Communications Professionals (www.lacp.com) in the United States. The LACP was established to create a forum within the public relations industry that facilitates discussion of best-in-class practices within the profession while also recognizing those who demonstrate exemplary communications capabilities.
