The Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) announced today that Pamela Brand has departed the Guild. After nearly 20 years at the DGC, Pamela felt the need to take on new challenges and pursue new goals.
Having joined the Guild in 1988 as the National Accountant, Pamela rose to become the National Executive Director in 1991. In 2004, the National Executive Board (NEB) separated the roles of President of the Board and CEO, and Pamela assumed the title of CEO. During her time at the Guild, she was a strong and respected advocate on public policy matters for the DGC and for the film and television industry as a whole. DGC President, Alan Goluboff, acknowledged Brand's tremendous contribution to the Guild. "Pamela served with dedication and commitment throughout her nearly 20 year career with the Guild. She provided constant leadership in our successful efforts with government and regulators and generously contributed her knowledge and expertise to many initiatives for the benefit of the industry," said Goluboff. "Pamela was a founder of the Coalition on Cultural Diversity (CCD), a pan-Canadian organization that was instrumental in the creation and adoption of the International Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions at UNESCO, in March of this year. This Convention is vital to the survival of the Canadian audiovisual industry. All of our members respect Pamela's contribution and service to the Guild and the industry. We wish her well in her future endeavours and thank Pamela for her work on our behalf." The NEB is now undertaking the task of finding a new CEO to lead the organization through the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. A search committee has been struck and is composed of President and NEB Chair, Alan Goluboff; National Directors' Division Chair, Sturla Gunnarsson; Ontario District Council Chair, Don McCutcheon; and British Columbia District Council Chair, Nicholas Kendall. During the interim period, Lesley Lucas will serve as Acting Director for the organization. |
