CBC Records and IODA Partner For Digital Distribution PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 07 March 2007

IODA, the global leader in digital distribution, marketing and technology solutions for the independent music industry, and CBC Records, CBC/Radio-Canada’s record label, today announced that they will partner for digital distribution internationally. The agreement will enable CBC Records to make its extensive catalogue available through IODA’s worldwide network of more than 300 digital retailers, mobile outlets and subscription services. The announcement was made at the Canadian Music Week conference in Toronto.

“This partnership will allow the further dissemination of a fabulous Canadian-based musical catalogue and heritage through the growing influence and expertise of a world leader in digital distribution,” said President of CBC Merchandising, René Bourdages.

“Digital distribution allows regional music to cross territorial borders and make itself known worldwide,” said IODA founder and CEO Kevin Arnold. “IODA is thrilled to be entrusted to bring the deep, rich catalogue of CBC Records to music fans around the globe.”

CBC/Radio-Canada, Canada’s national public broadcaster, is recognised as a leader in the development of Canadian music and musicians, nationally and internationally. CBC Records is one of Canada’s premier independent music labels, featuring some of the country’s finest musicians across all genres. The CBC catalogue contains an array of recordings, including those from Canada’s major orchestras, internationally renowned musicians such as Glenn Gould, James Ehnes, Isabel Bayrakdarian, Guido Basso, and one of the most electrifying new world music groups, the African Guitar Summit.

For years, CBC Records has led in the Canadian classical music industry. Its recent expansion to other genres, including jazz, world, traditional and alternative rock reflects both the label’s and CBC/Radio-Canada’s goals in attracting broader audiences and consumers. CBC Records has won several JUNO, Grammy, and regional awards and nominations, demonstrating its high artistic and production standards.
