The Sony Pictures Thriller - “Wind Chill” starring Emily Blunt (recently nominated for a Golden Globe for Devil Wears Prada) and Ashton Holmes (A History of Violence) will be opening for limited release on April 27th, 2007 in the United States. Canadian release dates are not yet known, as industry representatives await box office details before finalizing further openings in major markets.

The George Clooney/Section 8 produced project filmed for approximately 30 days in Peachland up on the Coquihalla connector near Brenda Mines during the winter of 2006. While this project filmed entirely on location in the Central Okanagan, its economic impact was felt throughout the region as service providers from Summerland and beyond were called upon to assist with production needs.

Spending an estimated $2 million dollars in the region, Wind Chill was the largest scale production to shoot in the region in 2006.

The Okanagan Film Commission’s mandate is to generate a positive economic impact by enabling the growth of the Okanagan-Similkameen-Boundary region as a film centre. With record-breaking location inquiries and numerous projects already confirmed in 2007, the Okanagan Film Commission looks forward to a strong film future in the valley.
