Timothy W. Casgrain appointed Chair of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Board

The Honourable Beverley J. Oda, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Status of Women, today announced the appointment of Timothy W. Casgrain, as Chairman of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

“The credentials Mr. Casgrain brings to the CBC will provide strong leadership,” said Minister Oda. “I am confident that his experience and sound judgement will greatly benefit the CBC.”


Mr. Casgrain is Chairperson of Skyservice Investments Inc., a wholly-owned Canadian aviation company. Prior to this, Mr. Casgrain served as Executive Vice President of Brascan Financial Corporation, as well as President and Chief Executive Officer of NBS Technologies. Mr. Casgrain’s career began as a teacher in Chad, Africa and he later became an accountant with Deloitte & Touche.

Born in Montreal, Mr. Casgrain is an avid supporter of arts and culture. He was educated at McGill University where he received a Bachelor of Arts. In 1976, he became a member of the Order of Chartered Accountants of Quebec. He holds appointments on several boards, including Century II Holdings Inc and the Toronto Rehab Foundation where he is Vice-Chair. He is also the Chair of the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education and President of Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.
