SARAH SILVERMAN TO HOST “2007 MTV MOVIE AWARDS,” JUNE 3 ON MTV
26 April 2007MTV today announced that the brilliantly funny Sarah Silverman will take the hosting reins for the “2007 MTV Movie Awards,” airing live on MTV in Canada on Sunday, June 3, 2007 at 8 p.m. ET. Star of both big screen and small, Silverman will lend her unique brand of provocative comedy to this year’s ceremony, which will be broadcast from the Gibson Theater in Universal City, California.
As previously announced, the “2007 MTV Movie Awards” will be executive produced by Emmy Award® winning producer Mark Burnett. Performers, nominees, and presenters for the “2007 MTV Movie Awards” will be announced at a later date.
“The other day I sat down too hard and sprained my labia majora. I’m okay, but I took it as a sign from God to host the MTV Movie Awards,” said Sarah Silverman.
“Sarah’s irreverent, no holds barred sarcasm and humor have made her one of the hottest up-and-coming comedians in the industry,” said Christina Norman, President, MTV in the United States. “Sarah is just the person to orchestrate the madness and keep everyone guessing about who’ll be her next target.”
The “2007 MTV Movie Awards” is just the most recent addition to Sarah Silverman’s growing list of credits. From stand-up comedy to film and television, Silverman has seen her share of success and 2007 has been no exception. Her comedy series “The Sarah Silverman Program” recently launched on The Comedy Network to rave reviews and a second season is about to go into production.
Silverman also made a splash with the feature length film version of her one-woman show, “Sarah Silverman: Jesus is Magic.” Silverman most recently co-starred in the feature film, “School For Scoundrels” opposite Billy Bob Thornton and John Heder. She has also starred in Jeff Garlin’s “I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With” and the acclaimed “The Aristocrats.” Before that, she co-starred opposite Jack Black, Mike White, and Joan Cusack in “The School of Rock,” as well as a number of films, including the blockbuster “There’s Something About Mary,” “The Way of The Gun,” Ivan Reitman’s “Evolution,” “The Bachelor” and “Say It Isn’t So.”
On television, Silverman also co-starred in the comedy series “Greg The Bunny” opposite Eugene Levy. And she has guest starred in a slew of acclaimed and notable television shows such as “The Larry Sanders Show,” “Seinfeld” and “Mr. Show with Bob and David.” Additionally, Silverman also lends her voice to the hugely successful Comedy Central series “Crank Yankers.”
